Pd/C is known to have been widely used for hydrogenation, hydrogenolysis and hydrodechlorination. However, its use as a catalyst for carbon–carbon bond formation is quite recent
Supported Pd catalysts are particularly important for industrial hydrogenation reactions, including fine chemicals synthesis. (1−3) Palladium is considered the most selective among the platinum metals, as hydrogenation is much faster than dehydrogenation to undesired carbonaceous species.
Product Application: 

Pd/C, a heterogeneous catalyst, is mainly used for the catalytic hydrogenation. This method gives few side reactions and Pd/C is recoverable and reusable after the reaction. It is widely used because the reduction is able to be carried out efficiently various functional groups under mild neutral conditions.

Product Procedure: 

 

The reaction proceeds Pd/C-dose-dependently, and 10 mol% of 10% Pd/C was found to be required to complete the reaction within 3 h.
