Procedure

Silica gel is a porous form of silicon dioxide that is present in the form of small beads. It has the property to adsorb 40% more than their own weight. It is desiccant, which means it has the power to adsorb moisture by attracting the water molecules. These beads are packed in the paper packets and put into the items that need to be kept dry and moisture-free. Silica gel molecularly adsorbs the water molecules which get stuck on its porous surface. 

Silica Gel can be used as an air freshener as it adsorbs the odour and thus is used for banishing it. It can also be used for preventing stale drawer.

 These silica gel paper bags are kept in all the places which require to keep the dry thing in their dry state, to prevent odour and prevent moisture.
It is made up of Sodium Sulphate. it has the property to adsorb 40% more than their own weight

Note

Silica Gel pouches are almost inert therefore are almost non-hazardous.
BUT it can be a CHOKING HAZARD on ingestion, therefore "DO NOT EAT" captions are placed on the pouches.
