BoilerGuard SCP
RXSOL BoilerGuard SCP Catalyst is a dry catalytic treatment designed to enhance the performance and reaction rate of sulfite/bisulfite-based oxygen scavenger programs used in boiler feedwater systems.
The product is formulated to promote more efficient removal of dissolved oxygen from boiler feedwater, helping reduce the risk of oxygen-induced corrosion and pitting in feedwater lines, boiler components and associated steam-system equipment.
It is particularly suitable for use as a catalyst/booster in sulfite or bisulfite oxygen-scavenging programs, rather than being regarded as a standalone replacement for the primary oxygen scavenger. Catalyzed sulfite systems are established boiler-water treatment approaches for accelerating oxygen removal.

Precautions & Remarks
Key Features of BoilerGuard SCP
- Catalyzes sulfite/bisulfite oxygen removal
- Promotes faster dissolved-oxygen reduction
- Helps protect boiler systems against oxygen corrosion
- Supports control of pitting corrosion
- Water-soluble dry formulation
- Easy to dose through a prepared treatment solution
- Suitable for integration into existing oxygen-scavenger programs
Procedure
A typical starting treatment range is:
10-30 ppm of product in boiler feedwater, depending on dissolved oxygen concentration and the operating conditions of the boiler system.
| System Condition | Suggested Starting Range |
|---|---|
| Low dissolved oxygen | 10 ppm |
| Normal oxygen load | 10–20 ppm |
| Elevated oxygen load | 20–30 ppm |
| Severe oxygen ingress | Optimize by testing |
The actual dosage should be determined based on:
- Dissolved oxygen concentration
- Boiler operating pressure
- Feedwater temperature
- Deaerator performance
- Sulfite/bisulfite residual
- Required oxygen residual
- Boiler water chemistry
- Feedwater flow rate
Note
- Boiler feedwater treatment
- Oxygen scavenger catalyst programs
- Sulfite oxygen scavenger systems
- Bisulfite oxygen scavenger systems
- Industrial steam boilers
- High-pressure boiler systems, subject to system-specific chemistry evaluation
- Feedwater corrosion-control programs
